Volunteer Release & Waiver I understand and agree that as a volunteer for Pet University: [1] I assume all risks of loss or injury, including death to myself or damage to my property while on the property of PET UNIVERSITY! and elsewhere, while participating in the volunteer program. [2] I understand and agree that all services performed by me will be performed on a strictly voluntary basis, and that I will receive no remuneration, pay, or compensation of any kind. [3] I understand and agree that I will not be an employee of PET UNIVERSITY! and will not receive any benefits normally available to employees of PET UNIVERSITY! I understand and agree that PET UNIVERSITY! shall incur no liability of any nature as result of my volunteering for PET UNIVERSITY! [4] I understand that in handling animals and performing other volunteer tasks there is a risk of injury, including physical harm or death, and that all services performed by me will be done at my own risk. [5] I understand PET UNIVERSITY! strongly recommends that I keep current my tetanus immunization. [6] I further understand that PET UNIVERSITY! recommends that any dogs and cats that I live with should be immunized by my veterinarian, and that these immunizations remain up-to-date during the time that I volunteer for PET UNIVERSITY! [7] THEREFORE, ON BEHALF OF MYSELF, MY HEIRS AND PERSONAL REPRESENTATIVES, I HEREBY RELEASE, DISCHARGE AND INDEMNIFY AND HOLD HARMLESS PET UNIVERSITY! THEIR ASSIGNS, SUCCESSORS, AGENTS, STAFF, OFFICERS, BOARD OF DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, CONTRACTORS AND REPRESENTATIVES FROM ANY AND ALL CLAIMS, CAUSES OF ACTION OR DEMANDS OF ANY NATURE OR CAUSE WHATSOEVER, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER OR NOT CAUSED WHOLLY OR IN PART BY THE NEGLIGENCE OF PET UNIVERSITY!, INCLUDING COSTS AND LEGAL FEES ARISING OUT OF, OR RELATING TO, MY VOLUNTEERING WITH PET UNIVERSITY!, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, ANIMAL BITES, DISEASE, ACCIDENTS, PROPERTY DAMAGE, OR INJURIES.

PET FIRST-AID ITEMS NEEDED

Basic first-aid supplies we need:

Pet first-aid book
Nylon leash
Self-cling bandage (bandage that stretches and sticks to itself but not to fur—available at pet stores and from pet-supply catalogs)
Muzzle or strips of cloth to prevent biting (don't use this if your pet is vomiting, choking, coughing or otherwise having difficulty breathing)

Absorbent gauze pads
Adhesive tape
Antiseptic wipes, lotion, powder or spray
Blanket (a foil emergency blanket)
Cotton balls or swabs
Gauze rolls
Hydrogen peroxide (to induce vomiting—do this only when directed by a veterinarian or a poison-control expert)
Ice pack
Non-latex disposable gloves
Petroleum jelly (to lubricate the thermometer)
Rectal thermometer (your pet's temperature should not rise above 103°F or fall below 100°F)
Scissors (with blunt ends)
Sterile non-stick gauze pads for bandages
Sterile saline solution (sold at pharmacies)
Tweezers
A pillowcase to confine your cat for treatment
A pet carrier
